Chelsea are leading Arsenal in the race to sign striker Alvaro Morata, who has officially returned to Real Madrid from Juventus.
The 23-year-old scored 27 goals in 93 appearances for the Old Lady after moving to the Juventus Stadium in 2014, but Real have activated their option to buy him back.
A statement on Juventus’ official website read: “All associated with Juventus Football Club would like to wish Alvaro the very best of luck wherever his future may take him and thank him for two truly excellent years of service to the team.”
Reports have for some time linked the Spain striker, who scored three goals at Euro 2016, with an immediate move from Real Madrid to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all keen.
Real are keen to make a mammoth profit on the striker, who has said he would be happy to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabeu, if they decided to keep hold.
However if Real do look to sell, reports are rife that Morata would prefer to sign for Chelsea due to the influence of new Blues boss Antonio Conte.
Chelsea have just completed a £33million deal for Michy Batshuayi, but Morata is still a target as doubts surround the future of Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.
