The stopper is out of contract at the Stade Velodrome and having not already agreed a new deal, is almost certain to leave after nine seasons between the sticks.

Although one Ligue 1 team are believed to have offered him terms, Mandanda has suggested he would like to move abroad, with England his preferred destination.

Everton were previously believed to be interested in his signature, but it is now Chelsea who are reportedly leading the race.

The 31-year-old has been named Le Championnat’s best goalkeeper four times in his career, but if he does move to Stamford Bridge, he would likely be used as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois.

Current number two Asmir Begovic has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, with another club who have been linked to Mandanda, Crystal Palace, thought to be eyeing a move for the Bosnian.
