Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been linked with a raid on his former club Juventus for the signature of defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Conte, who has managed the 27-year-old stopper during his time in charge of Turin and the Italy national side before moving to Stamford Bridge following Euro 2016 last month, is believed to be looking to bolster his defensive options ahead of the transfer deadline in ten days.
The 47-year-old has so far guided the Blues to two successive 2-1 Premier League wins against West Ham and Watford respectively, but he is still looking at additions having only brought in striker Michy Batshuayi and midfielder N’Golo Kante so far.
John Terry and Gary Cahill have started both games in the centre of defence, but Conte is looking to add more quality competition for places at the back and a move for Chiellini could come in the coming week.
The problem is Juventus are not keen to sell Chiellini and have no pressure to do so financially having picked up £89million from Manchester United for Paul Pogba.
Chelsea could switch their focus on Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly if they fail to seal a deal for Chiellini.
