Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is facing three weeks out with a dislocated shoulder but has travelled with the squad to the US.
The Serbia international picked up the injury in the first half of Chelsea’s 3-0 friendly win over RZ Pellets in Austria on Wednesday.
Ivanovic, who was replaced by Baba Rahman for the second half at the Wothersee Stadium, will miss Chelsea’s next two friendlies with Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Antonio Conte’s men take on Liverpool in Pasadena on Thursday before facing the 11-time European Cup winners at Michigan Stadium on Saturday.
Ivanovic will undergo treatment on the injury under the supervision of Chelsea’s medical staff in the US and has also been ruled out of the final tour match against AC Milan a week on Thursday.
The news will be a big blow to Conte because it will leave Ivanovic to play catch up in the remainder of pre-season as he battles to get fit for the start of the new Premier League campaign.
The 32-year-old’s latest problem isn’t likely to rule him out for too long, but he is thought to be ‘touch and go’ for the Blues’ first Premier League game with London rivals West Ham on August 15.
