Free agent Charles N’Zogbia has been spotted training with Sunderland as he looks to find a new club for the 2016-17 season.
The 30-year-old was released by Aston Villa last month when his £60,000-per-week contract expired, with the Frenchman having no chance of being handed an extension having not featured for the Midlands outfit since the 2015 FA Cup final.
N’Zogbia turned down the chance to leave Villa in January but is now on the lookout for a new home and has been offered the chance to train with Black Cats.
The former Newcastle winger was spotted on Wearside on Monday for the first day of pre-season training as manager Sam Allardyce runs the rule over a player he worked with during his brief stint in charge of the Toon.
Allardyce is reportedly a fan of N’Zogbia and is in need of wingers, meaning the Frenchman could be a bargain signing depending on his wage demands and how he performs while at the Academy of Light.
