Crystal Palace have jumped ahead of Stoke in the race to sign striker Saido Berahino from West Brom, according to reports.
Stoke have had at least one offer in the region of £20million rejected for the forward but remain interested in the former England Under-21 international, who will finally be allowed to leave the Hawthorns this summer.
The Baggies are waiting to sign a new frontman themselves but news that they are closing in on a £16million deal for West Ham’s Diafra Sakho means Berahino’s long-expected move away could be imminent.
The Potters had hoped he would choose the Bet365 Stadium, but the latest claims are he would prefer a switch to London and a £25million deal with Palace is more likely as things stand.
Eagles boss Alan Pardew is also still interested in Liverpool’s Christian Benteke but, despite the Reds accepting an offer of around £30million for the Belgium international last month, there have been no developments on the possible transfer.
