Crystal Palace are close to wrapping up a deal for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke after agreeing personal terms with the player.
The Eagles have been chasing the Belgium international for some time but it looks as though they will finally get the deal over the line in the coming days.
Palace will smash their transfer record after agreeing to pay Liverpool more than £30million for his services, while they have also matched Benteke’s wage demands.
There were fears that Premier League rivals West Ham United could hijack the deal, but such reports are unfounded and Benteke is on his way to Selhurst Park.
Palace boss Alan Pardew is still said to be chasing another striker with West Bromwich Albion star Saido Berahino also on his wanted list ahead of the big kick off.
