Crystal Palace are expected to launch a fresh attempt to sign Christian Benteke from Liverpool this week.
The Eagles have been chasing the Belgium international for most of the summer but have so far struggled to agree a deal with the Reds, with the fee said to be the sticking point.
Liverpool are keen to recoup the £32million they paid Aston Villa for his services, but Palace have yet to go that high and Benteke has remained at Anfield.
However, reports are now claiming that Palace boss Alan Pardew wants to get the deal over the line and is urging his board to match Liverpool’s valuation.
Benteke is ready to fight for his place at Liverpool should a deal fail to materialise, but he is unlikely to turn his back on the chance of regular first-team football with the Eagles.
West Ham United are also keen, but they have also failed to match Liverpool’s valuation at this point.
