Benitez expected to keep faith

Rafa Benitez is set to keep faith with the players he’s used at Newcastle in what may be his last game in charge against Spurs.

Benitez is expected to select from the same group he’s largely relied on since taking over for the final months of the campaign but, following relegation, both the manager and some players know it could be their last action at St James’ Park.

Full-back Daryl Janmaat was an unused substitute for last weekend’s goalless draw at Aston Villa after recovering from groin and hand injuries and he could start, but keepers Tim Krul and Rob Elliot (both knee) and defenders Fabricio Coloccini (calf) and Massadio Haidara (knee) remain on the sidelines.

The Newcastle futures of Moussa Sissoko, Papiss Cisse, Jonjo Shelvey, Andros Townsend – to name just four – are in doubt after relegation was confirmed, but they will be among a whole host hoping to be involved against Tottenham on the final day.
