Southampton are reportedly lining up a £6million swoop to sign Anderlecht midfielder Steven Defour.
New boss Claude Puel is still on the look out to bolster his Saints squad despite bringing in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich to cover for Victor Wanyama in the midfield engine room.
Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle have also departed in big-money moves to Liverpool and Chinese outfit Shandong Luneng respectively, while Gaston Ramirez left at the end of his contract.
Therefore, there is still room for more new additions following on from the signings of Hojbjerg, winger Nathan Redmond, full-back Jeremy Pied and goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
And reports claim Puel is interested in 25-year-old Belgium midfield man, Defour, who is believed to be looking for an escape route from Anderlecht having become a target for the fans due to his previous five-year spell with their bitter rivals Standard Liege.
It’s thought Defour would be keen to play in the Premier League to boost his chances of getting back in the Belgium team having been overlooked for Euro 2016.
