Arsenal are reported to be lining up a move for Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia when the transfer window opens.
Reports over the weekend suggested a swoop for Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski could be on the cards, and now Benatia has also been suggested as a target.
Benatia, who joined the German champions from Roma in 2014, has struggled to nail down a regular first-team spot and has made just 27 Bundesliga appearances.
The Morocco international is worried about his lack of opportunities and, with Mats Hummels expected to arrive from Borussia Dortmund in the next transfer window, an exit is on the cards.
Arsenal look set to spend big this summer after another failed challenge for the English Premier League title and strengthening at the back is a top priority for Arsene Wenger.
The Frenchman is said to be keen on Benatia and his hopes of securing a deal were given a big boost recently, with the defender ready to leave the Allianz Arena.
“I have no problem, if I have to leave Bayern Munich, then IÂ’ll leave, but first I want to end this season well,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
