Barcelona’s new record signing Philippe Coutinho will have to wait three weeks to make his debut.
The Spanish giants revealed the £142million buy from Liverpool is still struggling with a thigh injury after medical tests on Monday.
Coutinho missed both of Liverpool’s opening two games in 2018 with a thigh problem and Barca have confirmed he is now set to be sidelined for the rest of January.
A club statement read: “Coutinho has an injury to his right thigh and he is expected to be out for around three weeks.”
Barca wrapped up a deal for the Brazilian over the weekend after a protracted pursuit.
Coutinho was at the Nou Camp to watch his new side’s 3-0 LaLiga win over Levante on Sunday following his British record move and will officially be presented as a Barca player on Monday afternoon.
