Barcelona have rejected an invite to play in the match which will formally ‘open’ West Ham’s tenure of the Olympic Stadium.
Mundo Deportivo claim Barca were offered the chance to provide the opposition when the Hammers open the doors to the 55,000-seat venue in August, but ‘dismissed’ the idea.
The report states that the reigning Spanish and European champions were also given a lucrative proposal to play a pre-season friendly against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, but rejected that for similar sporting reasons.
The Catalan club have instead given their commitment to play in the International Champions Cup tournament and are likely to face different opposition in three different European cities, which are expected to include Moscow and Dublin.
The offers from the English clubs to appear at their grounds were said to be worth approximately £1.5million.
