Aston Villa are the latest club to be linked with a move for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford.
Former Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo has reportedly identified the 22-year-old as his top target as he bids to help Villa bounce back at the first attempt.
Bamford has a proven goal-scoring record in the Championship after spending time on loan with Derby and Middlesbrough in the past.
The forward managed 17 league goals in 39 appearances during his stint with Boro in the 2014-15 campaign but he has been unable to force his way into the Chelsea side and is expected to move on.
Bamford has two years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge and it is thought the Blues will demand a fee in the region of £10million for the frontman.
Villa’s prospective new owner Tony Xia is prepared to fund the deal as Di Matteo is expected to be handed a war chest in the region of £50million this summer, but the club will face competition for Bamford as fellow relegated sides Norwich and Newcastle have also been linked with the forward.
