Mario Balotelli returned to Liverpool on Sunday and all eyes will be on whether he is kept on by boss Jurgen Klopp.
The 25-year-old moved to Anfield from Milan in 2014 but, after an unsuccessful season during which he scored just one Premier League goal from 16 appearances, he was loaned back to the San Siro outfit.
Hopes of an improvement in form in Serie A failed to materialise as the Italy international striker found the back of the net on just one occasion in the league and was sent back to Liverpool without the club taking up an option to buy.
Balotelli’s fall from grace has been spectacular after he arrived at Manchester City in 2010 to much fanfare, and 20 goals from 54 Premier League outings suggested he had a future in England.
However, there have been many off-field issues, while the former Inter Milan hit-man’s demeanour during some games has often been of a man who seems disinterested in his job.
Whether he stays on Merseyside only time will tell, with Klopp looking to overhaul his squad this summer and plenty of activity in the transfer market at the club already.
There have been reports of Turkish interest in Balotelli but, with nothing concrete on the table, he is back with his Liverpool team-mates – some of whom he will not have met before.
Punters looking to use a free bet might fancy Liverpool to rally this season with or without the Italian and they kick off their campaign against Arsenal on Saturday, August 13.
