Tottenham have been warned they could miss out on signing Vincent Janssen altogether this summer, with AZ Alkmaar sporting director Max Huiberts insisting the club have yet to agree a deal for the striker.
It has been reported that Spurs are on the verge of signing the Dutchman, who scored 27 goals in 34 league appearances last season, with a deal worth around £17million supposedly imminent.
It has been suggested that is this in fact Tottenham’s third bid for the 22-year-old, who they have made their number attacking target this summer.
But, speaking to Dutch newspaper Noordhollands Dagblad, Huiberts insisted that was not the case.
He said: “There is a lot of speculation and I read a lot of nonsense stories.
“We received one bid from Tottenham Hotspur that we have not accepted. That’s not so strange to me. It is not often that a club agrees immediately with a first offer. Then we heard nothing more.
“No, that’s not us. If you want to buy something, you have to go to the store. The store does not belong to you.”
