Asylum seeker convicted after racially abusing man for being ‘ENGLISH’

11 Mar

Mohammed Akhlaghi, 35, pushed Robert St Paul in the back and used the word “English” in a derogatory manner as he swore at the startled attendant during a fierce exchange after illegally parking his car.

Akhlaghi exploded in rage as he challenged Mr St Paul as he was issuing him with a parking fine in Hull in August last year.

Despite pleading guilty to the offence, Akhlaghi argued during his sentencing at Hull magistrates court that the incident had not been racially aggravated and that he had not been fully aware of proceedings due to his limited level of English and initial lack of legal representation.
