Aston Villa suffer further setback as first team fall to embarrassing 3-0 defeat to under-21 side

Aston Villa’s first team suffered yet another defeat last Friday, to their under-21 side in a behind-closed-doors match at the club’s Bodymoor Heath training ground.

First-team regulars Brad Guzan, Alan Hutton, Ciaran Clarke, Kieran Richardson, Ashley Westwood, Jordan Veretout, Idrissa Gueye, Leandro Bacuna and Scott Sinclair all played a part in the 3-0 defeat.

With only 12 matches remaining and Villa eight points from safety, the result will have done little to reassure manager Remi Garde over the fear of relegation.

The team had a weekend off due to their exit from the FA Cup but it seems they failed to use it to their advantage.

As a result, Garde is expected to be in attendance on Monday night as Villa’s under-21s play Swansea with a lot of changes expected for this weekend’s trip to the Britannia to face Stoke on Saturday.
