Arsene Wenger: This Arsenal star was at the ‘top-level’ against Man City

The 29-year-old striker finally ended his long stretch without a league goal as the Gunners came from behind twice to claim a 2-2 draw at the Etihad.

Giroud had been heavily criticised prior to the clash and Wenger says he was happy he kept faith in his French forward.

Wenger said: “Olivier Giroud was questioned recently and I’m happy I kept confidence in him because I thought he had a top-level performance.

“He was fighting, he had control of the ball, he was finishing and he gave an assist.”
