Lille defender Djibril Sidibe is said to be keen on joining Arsenal after the club contacted him but a formal offer has yet to be made.
Earlier this week it was widely reported that Monaco had agreed a fee of 13million euros for the 23-year-old but the matter has now been complicated by the Gunners entering the race for his signature.
Arsenal are said to have spoken to the left-back to discuss personal terms but Lille are yet to receive a formal enquiry from the north London outfit.
Boss Arsene Wenger is said to have made the signing of Sidibe his priority and the Frenchman appears to be leaning towards a move to the Emirates Stadium, rather than Monaco.
Were Arsenal to land Sidibe then it could spell the end for Kieran Gibbs at the club after he slipped behind Nacho Monreal in Wenger’s pecking order last season.
The England international has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.
