Arsene Wenger is close to making a double acquisition to his Arsenal squad.
They are nearing a deal for just over £52million to bring LaLiga pair Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez to the Emirates Stadium, which would take the north London club’s summer spending total to around £82million.
Mustafi is a German defender due to arrive from Valencia, while Perez is a forward from Deportivo La Coruna. The former is understood to be in the capital undergoing a medical ahead of the move.
The Gunners are already five points behind the Premier League’s pace-setters, just two games into the new campaign.
They started the season with a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool before drawing 0-0 with champions Leicester City.
Fans have been vocal in urging their manager to spend and he is now about to follow up the £30m capture of Granit Xhaka.
Despite missing out on Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette following a £29m bid, Gunners fans can be optimistic for the new season.
They have something to build on after finishing runners up to the Foxes in 2015/16 and they have a number of players out injured, so their eventual returns could be seen as new signings.
