Just like fellow Gunners’ team-mate Alexis Sanchez, Ozil is due to fall out of contract at the end of the season, but unlike the Chilean, there has been some hope that the midfielder may eventually pen a new deal.
However, reports in the German press now claim that looks unlikely, and both Ozil and Sanchez will run down their contracts before leaving on free transfers at the end of the season.
The reports claim that Arsenal have not held contract talks with Ozil since back in February, and there is little chance of the two parties agreeing a new deal anytime soon.
The Germany international is said to be holding out for £250,000 a week, but Arsenal seem unwilling to pay that much for a player who is hardly ripping up trees with his performances on the pitch.
Both players will be free to talk to other clubs from January with a view to lining up a summer deal, and neither will be short of offers as Arsenal look to take a significant financial hit on two of their most important players.
