Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri never feared Riyad Mahrez would leave the club.
The Algerian was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal all summer and reports in France even claimed the Gunners had made a £35million bid.
However, the winger signed a new contract until June 2020 on Thursday to put an extend to all the speculation around him.
And now Ranieri has revealed that he was never concerned Leicester would lose Mahrez this summer.
“I am very pleased but I was so sure it was only speculation every time,” said Ranieri when discussing Mahrez’s new deal.
“First of all it was [Jaime] Vardy, after Mahrez. We lost only [N’Golo] Kante. And now it is important to stay very concentrated for the next match.”
