Rafa Benitez has no plans to recall Adam Armstrong from Coventry for Newcastle’s relegation run-in.
There have been calls from some fans for the new Magpies boss to bring Armstrong back from his spell on loan at League One City after the 19-year-old’s prolific season.
The youngster has hit 19 goals for the Sky Blues in the third tier and many observers feel he could cut it in the Premier League.
However, Benitez says he would prefer Armstrong to stay where he is for the rest of the campaign as he is getting valuable experience.
He told the Chronicle: “He is a great lad and he is doing well. But there is a big difference between playing young players and those with experience.
“We must allow him to stay on loan. At this time you need experience. Maybe it could be fine for him to come back but you never know and you can’t take any risks.
“I prefer to go with senior players with more experience.”
