West Ham United have completed the signing of former Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa on a free transfer.
Arbeloa was a free agent after his release by Los Blancos this summer and he will be plying his trade in England for the second time, having enjoyed a spell at Liverpool from 2007-09.
The 33-year-old has bags of experience, having won the Champions League twice with Madrid whilst he was part of the Spain squad that won the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
He is now looking forward to returning to the Premier League and playing a major part for the Hammers, who have started the season slightly sluggishly.
“I am really happy to be here in a great Club in a great league,” Arbeloa told West Ham TV. “I’m really happy to be back in England and, for me, it’s a great chance and I’m looking forward to playing with this side.
“The Stadium is amazing. It’s really nice and looks fantastic. Hopefully I’m going to see the Stadium full with all our fans and I’m really happy to be here.”
