West Ham’s Michail Antonio says he is determined to become one of the “best wingers in the Premier League” this season.
The £7million signing from Nottingham Forest enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the top flight for the Hammers, scoring nine goals in 32 appearances last term.
The 26-year-old is expected to be a key player once again for boss Slaven Bilic and he is keen to improve further and become one of the best wide men around.
Speaking to FourFourTwo magazine, he said: “I’m hoping that I can be back in my right position because that’s where I’ve played my whole life. I’ve been one of the best players in the Championship. Now I can turn myself into one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
“When I pick up the ball now at West Ham, the fans shout: ‘Go, run, run’. It’s just one of those things I’ve always been able to have, running at people and beating players.
“It’s definitely a good attribute to have. As soon as I get the ball, I just hear the fans roar. You get something that goes inside your stomach, and it just makes you run and take people on and go. It gives you that massive lift and belief behind you.”
