European heavyweights Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain have both been linked with the 25-year-old.

But Di Livio, who played alongside the incoming Blues chief at Juventus and for Italy, has suggested that the midfield maestro could play a crucial role in Conte’s new look side.

He told the Mirror: “At the beginning of his career at Juve, he (Conte) told the media that he didn’t like to play out wide and that he didn’t have fun there.
