Antonio Conte discusses transfer plans: He’s got big plans for midfield ace

“Money is important, but it is not everything. It is important for clubs not just to spend because we want to spend.

“But it’s right to take a player and adapt him to our idea of football.”

Chelsea’s new £33m midfielder N’Golo Kante flies in to join the squad on Thursday, and Conte added: “I am pleased the club took him – he is fantastic. I can’t wait to see him, work with him, and transfer my ideas to him.”

In the boiling heat at the vast UCLA campus in Los Angeles, Conte put his squad through another tough double training session yesterday.

Serb defender Branislav Ivanovic is back in light training after dislocating a shoulder last week, but is doubtful for the start of the season.

Centre back Kurt Zouma, who ruptured knee ligaments in February, is also on the US tour and doing light training but is not expected to be fit until September.
