Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink says Alexandre Pato is close to making his debut for the club, athough insists he is not fit enough to play a full 90 minutes.
Pato joined Chelsea on loan from Corinthians in January but his first appearance has been delayed by his lack of fitness.
Hiddink hinted the Brazilian could make the bench against Norwich tomorrow but insists the former AC Milan man is behind youngster Bertrand Traore in the pecking order.
“Pato is eager and of course we have healthy competition between our strikers at the moment with Diego [Costa] as the number one,” said Hiddink.
“I’m happy with the progress of Bertrand Traore. Then he [Pato] and [Loic] Remy are in the position to compete.
“He’s not ready for 90 minutes but he’s able to play part of the game. I underline that we consider the chances of the young guys.
“The best thing was to have him on loan and then the club can make a proper judgement on his performances and then it’s for mutual parties to decide the best thing to do.”
