West Brom coach Ben Garner says James Chester, who didn’t feature in Albion’s draw at Plymouth, will make a pre-season appearance soon.
Garner says Chester, the subject of reported interest from Derby County, is “fit and available” but a little further behind the rest of the Baggies squad in terms of match sharpness right now.
Tony Pulis took the Wales international to Home Park on Saturday but he failed to make it off the bench as Albion lined up with Craig Dawson, Gareth MacAuley, Jonas Olsson and Jonny Evans across the back four.
“It’s up to the manager and what team he puts out, he’ll decide that over the next 24 hours, in terms of who needs what minutes,” said Garner following the 0-0 draw.
“Chezzy was the last one to come back in because they went further in the tournament, so he’s had less training than the other lads.
“But he’s fine, he’s fit. We’ve built up his training over the last week and a half.
“I’m sure Chezzy will play a part over the next two games.”
West Brom face Torquay on Monday night and Real Mallorca in their final warm-up match at the Iberostar Stadium on Saturday.
