West Brom are among a handful of clubs interested in signing Newcastle’s Andros Townsend, who is available for £10.5m this summer.
Townsend was relegated with the Magpies last season after his January move from Tottenham but he is not expected to stick around at St James’ Park in the Championship and will look for a switch back to the Premier League this summer.
His release clause is set at £10.5million and Albion have made it known they are interested at that price, although the Baggies face competition from others in the top flight.
Liverpool were linked with him at the start of the week but the Reds are not pursuing the winger at this stage, although Crystal Palace and Sunderland have also been mentioned as possible suitors.
Newcastle have reportedly offered to increase his £55,000-a-week salary to keep him in the North East, but it would be a surprise if he stays with the Magpies in the second tier.
A return to London might be attractive for the 24-year-old, so a move to Palace may well be on the cards ahead of him making the switch to the Hawthorns.
