Only two English managers have won the FA Cups in the Premier League era – Joe Royle in Everton in 1995 and Harry Redknapp with Portsmouth in 2008.
And should Pardew end up lifting football’s most famous football trophy on Saturday evening, then it will be a huge moment for English managers.
Pardew said: “I’ve come so close, as an English manager probably the closest for a long time to winning it.
“Harry won it with Portsmouth but we get a really bad press as English coaches and managers.
“It would be good for this club and English coaches to win it.”
