The Crystal Palace boss has been linked with the Three Lions job Sam Allardyce’s shock departure earlier this week.
For the moment he is happy to see his former Palace team-mate Gareth Southgate promoted from the under-21s to the top job, even if it is only for the next four games.
But he has questioned why some of the leading English candidates are at least not given a taste of what being in charge of the national team involves.
Pardew said: “They keep talking about having a system. But myself, Eddie Howe, any English manager as far as I’m aware, have never been invited to England as a guest – and I think we should be.
“We should understand what goes on at press conferences for England and behind the scenes otherwise how are we going to get experience?
