Alan Pardew: I didn’t think we could win in 1990… but Man Utd are beatable now!

“If it all goes our way, I actually think we can win. And this group of Palace players think they can win, too”

The Eagles will start as underdogs when they face United at Wembley in a repeat of the 1990 final.

Pardew played in that final 26 years ago but Palace eventually came up short against Sir Alex Ferguson’s United, losing the replay 1-0 after a 3-3 draw.

Now, Palace boss Pardew wants his players to become legends in south London and win the club’s first major trophy after 111 years.

He said: “Our fans want to go to Wembley and win. We want to win. We are not going there to be runners-up.

“As a player in 1990, I thought, ‘Oh we might win this’. But, if I am honest, I didn’t think we could win.
