Alan Pardew hoping an FA Cup triumph can inspire new generation of Crystal Palace fans

“But at the moment, in this very tough period, every game that we play is a final. You know that in one month we have ten games.

“That is very difficult, for the team, for the squad. That’s not an excuse. We played much better today, but we are disappointed for the result because I think we deserved more.

“I think it’s not fair now to blame. We need to analyse only the game today. We deserved more, we played better.

“Maybe we didn’t play fantastic, but we played better, we created more chances, we had the better chances to win the game.”

Pochettino, whose side now face Fiorentina for a place in the last 16 of the Europa League, added: “We need to be ready for Thursday, when we have another final.”
