A Paddy McNair own goal helped Man City beat Sunderland and a lot of people found that funny

13 Aug

According to Opta, Paddy McNair had only been on the pitch for three and a half minutes when he scored Man City’s winner.

The former Man United defender recently joined Sunderland and was making his debut as a late substitute, replacing striker Jermain Defoe with seven minutes to go and the score level at 1-1.

Then he was unable to deal with Jesus Navas’ cross and accidentally put the ball in his own net.

There was nothing he could have done, but his name was soon trending on Twitter and here are some of the tweets.
